The Bow River Irrigation District is looking to fill the following positions.

Safety Officer


The Bow River Irrigation District is looking for a Safety Officer. This position will be for 5 days (37.5 hours) per week.

Duties include:

  • Overseeing the safety program for the district:
    • Ensure the district is following OH&S legislation
    • Ensure employees of the district and contractors hired by the district are following the district’s safety policies and procedures; update policies and procedures as required
    • Facilitate the external safety audit every three years and the internal safety audit on remaining years
    • Facilitate the annual safety meeting for all BRID staff
    • Facilitate various safety-related training for employees
    • Coordinate joint health and safety committee meetings
    • Perform incident investigations and reporting
    • Perform facility inspections and site inspections

  • Other duties:
    • Perform location of BRID pipelines for first calls

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and leadership skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Ability to interpret and apply various legislation
  • A strong safety ethic
